Introduction

Greetings, welcome and let's get started!

My (brief) personal computer background: When I was very young, my dad brought home one of those fancy green-screen floppy-disk-using personal home computers.  It was awesome.  He hooked us up to the early web via Prodigy.  I didn't realize how significant that was at the time.

Leap forward to 2001.  After getting by with several used devices, DeeDee and I finally purchased our first new computer. It was the best Gateway had to offer. The LCD display and digital-output sound card are still relevant today.  The 80GB hard drive still works perfectly.

2007, we bought a cheap Gateway from CostCo.  I've upgraded the internals over the years to stay somewhat current.

I'm not real big on video games, but I did play both Knights of the Old Republic games.  The first was incredible-crazy-awesome; the second was a couple notches down, but still very cool.  The first game had quite an impact on me.  "Revan" remains my favorite SW character.

Present day: Just purchased Star Wars: The Old Republic.  Installed it on the 2007 Gateway.  Unplayable.  Time for a new computer!

After shopping around, I've decided to build one.  Used this article as jumping-off point:

I'm not in a huge rush.  So between other projects and life-happenings, I'll be having fun with this thing.  I'll post all research, insights, photos, progress updates, etc. here.  Hope it's helpful or at least entertaining to you.
